Popular Italian Musicians Venditti & De Gregori Span 50 Year Career, Tour with RCF TT+
Francesco De Gregori and Antonello Venditti shared their first steps at the Folk Studio in Rome in the early 1970s, recording an album together in 1972 (Theorius Campus). For many decades their professional lives were divided into two successful parallel careers, until meeting again in 2022 for their first tour together.
The sold-out event in Rome featured a scenography inspired by the 80s, made only of spotlights and led strips, to give an accent to the music. The only “video concession”, two LED walls on sides, to allow those who have seated far away a better view of the stage. Over 30 songs in the lineup for almost three hours of music, equally divided between the two songwriters, 15 songs by Venditti and 15 by De Gregori.
Lucio Boiardi Serri of the RCF team, assisted by his colleague Emanuele Morlini, describes the audio system, "We have 42 GTX line array systems divided into 4 main / side line arrays and 48 TTS 56-A subwoofers in vertical position, and a stack of 3 with the center sub facing the stage in a cardioid configuration. The constant distribution of low frequencies on the stadium is managed through the "curves" function integrated in RDNet, which allows optimal coverage of the venue. This includes the lateral extremes, without having a too evident sum in the center,” explains Serri.
For maximum mid-low frequency performance, the GTX system was cut to 60 Hz, while the TTS 56-A ground subs handled the range from 30 to 60 Hz. Boiardi Serri continues, "The high-frequency compensation has been managed from the FIR presets of the XPS 16K with excellent coverage and consistency in the vertical plane up to the first grandstand. The second and third were covered by delays."
Lorenzo Moka Tommasini, sound engineer, also comments on the system:" I have had the opportunity to listen to the TT + GTX with Ligabue for the concert at RCF Arena where I was working on the live broadcast and recording. I must admit, I really enjoyed mixing on this system; it has a fantastic medium-low frequency as well as a pleasant presence on the higher frequencies. The system is well distributed throughout the stadium and easily controllable on the stage. Thanks to the entire RCF team who have taken on the painstaking work of system design and optimization. Well done!" After Rome, the tour will continue across Italy this summer.
