Just Smile upgrades with popular RCF HDL 30-A line array

RCF has added Watford, UK based hire company, Just Smile to its growing number of HDL 30-A line array customers around the world.

 
The events specialists, who service a wide portfolio of projects — ranging from corporate events to Jewish weddings and national sporting fixtures — purchased a 16-box HDL 30-A rig, with six complementary SUB 9006-AS subwoofers. This will not only service their large roster of summer events, including their own promoted BushFest festival, but also the many fireworks spectaculars they undertake towards the end of the year.

Managing director David Rees, who set up his company nine years ago, recognised that Just Smile had outgrown the system they operated previously. “We needed the next step up, which would enable us to service audiences of up to 9,000-10,000 people,” he said.

They opted for RCF’s active biamped two-way composite touring system, which houses 2 x 10" drivers and 2200W optimised amplification, after auditioning various systems at this year’s Prolight+Sound Show in Frankfurt.

“We went to Germany specifically to hear different PA systems, and this was the best,” said Rees. “We were particularly impressed at the way the HDL 30 was demoed outdoors, and we saw it as an opportunity to buy into a new system concept.”

 
They later attended the RCF Open Day at G-Live in Guildford to rubber stamp the decision. “Here we were able to talk more specifically about the system, and that’s when we decided to take the leap,” he continued. David Rees also knew that Tom Chennells of Yes Events, who co-hosted the Guildford event, was an advocate of RCF. “We both have similar businesses and it means if we need to cross hire we can.”
 
The new system enjoyed its first outing at the popular BushFest, now in its second year, which attracted a large attendance to hear a roster of leading tribute acts.
