The VSA 1250 II is a multi-amplified vertical steerable array that represents one of the latest RCF applications in terms of digital audio technology. Thanks to powerful DSPs it processes the audio signal sent to each speaker for controlling its vertical acoustic dispersion to address the audio signal exactly to the listening area, avoiding to send the acoustic energy to ceilings and empty floors, thus not introducing bad reflections that would affect speech intelligibility, mainly in critical environments with high reverberation time. Full RDNet compatibility.

Powerful transducers

The state-of-the-art transducers developed for the VSA II offer the highest intelligibility and wider frequency response, according to RCF philosophy. A 1,4 tesla flux density is the result of the massive neodymium magnet to achieve an incredible mid frequency dynamic range. The neodymium magnet is very lightweight and helps to compact the size of the overall system.

Advanced technology

The powerful multi-channel DSP controls each of the 12 Class-D 50 W power amplifiers, which can drive the 12 transducers with an optimal headroom. The amplification circuit includes several protections and controls to operate in safe mode. The switching-mode power supply module is connected with the DSP main board to check voltage, current and temperature status data. It operates in both 115/230 Volt AC modes and in 24 DC as a backup power source. Every model includes active protection against over-voltage and over-current. During the development of the VSA, high priority was given to critical signal paths and self-monitoring components to provide easier installation, simpler maintenance, and maximum safety and reliability. Also ideal for Voice Alarm applications.

Architectural camouflage

The unobtrusive and robust aluminum cabinet blends seamlessly in any architecturally sensitive environments. The standard colors are black RAL 9005 and white RAL 9003, and custom colors are available on request. The modular design approach offers a uniform heat dissipation for maximum consistency over time. The installation is particularly simple thanks to the drilling template on the wooden package and the lightweight of the speaker. Optional swivel brackets are available on request if the column has to be oriented horizontally.

Safe connections

The plastic cap/shield on the bottom-end of the column makes the connections safe and stable. Two balanced inputs are available for independent wiring of Priority and Aux audio sources. The Priority connector is available on ceramic terminal blocks with a thermal fuse for Voice Alarm applications and can be controlled by a fail-safe activation command. A remote switch-on facility is available to avoid power ON and OFF through electric switches when the columns are not part of a Voice Alarm system. By detecting the audio presence, the column can switch itself ON automatically, and then OFF after a period during which it is not used. The Data Link port allows control and monitoring from the RDNet Network, while the monitoring port can be used for ‘faulty’ remote indications. AC and DC Power supply connections are on top of the column, protected by a plastic cover. Connectors are VDE type for AC and ceramic terminal blocks for DC.

RCF RDNet

Networked control and much more
RDNet is a robust management network and control platform for small, medium and large arena-sized sound systems, as well as complex and extended installations. Based on a proprietary network protocol, RDNet provides intuitive control and monitoring of every connected device/object in the RCF audio system. Each device has DSP to address specific presets or modifications of parameters to single or groups of objects. A network user can change level, delay, EQ (linear phase FiR as well) and other settings, including advanced subwoofer configurations. RDNet is not only designed for loudspeakers—you can control parameters and routing of multiple RCF devices, such as digital matrixes or amplifiers.
Easy beam
Allows specifying the listening area by selecting a preset.

Easy focus
Simple, easy and suitable for all systems, advisable for users and installers that are not so experienced. Only two parameters are necessary: the loudspeaker installation height and the maximum distance to be covered.
Responsive Image
Free beam
For experts/installers, it allows the setting of both loudspeakers tilt and beam parameters.

Equalizer
The equalization can be chosen among 6 different settings, 3 of which are user custom with a complete range of available equalization types:
  • Flat - No equalization (flat frequency response)
  • Speech - Equalization optimised for speech
  • Music - Equalization optimised for music
  • Custom 1 – 2 – 3 - Three custom equalization by setting max. 8 filters
Audio control window
Two different audio channels available, the Priority Channel will be active when needed if the priority function is activated, overriding the AUX Channel. A delay on the DSP improves the intelligibility on big installations. The parameter to be set is not the time, but the distance (range: from 0 to 99 metres, 3 m steps) between the first loudspeaker line and the one of the loudspeaker to be set. The polarity control (Phase) is helpful to minimise destructive interferences due to particular loudspeaker positions.

VSA control via smartphone

The VSA-RC is an easy way to control the VSA speakers through the VSA Remote App available on iOS or Android. The following data are configurable on each VSA through the VSA-RC remote control:
  • Selection of the proper beaming and tilting/steering configuration
  • Delay in meters
  • Voice/Music equalization
  • Polarity
  • Mute
  • Volume
  • Stand-By and Configuration-Lock
The I/R receiving diode is recessed, and its directivity coverage has been narrowed to receive I/R commands just from the dedicated remote located in front of the column axis. Thanks to this, if two columns are close to each other, there is no risk of two receivers being driven at the same time.
