King of Italian Soul Mario Biondi with RCF Pro Sound line arrays

Mario Biondi is a soul and jazz singer and composer from Sicily, Italy, with a very characteristic vocal timbre rich in low harmonics that made him famous all around the world. The first success came in 2004 with the single "This is what you are" when Biondi was 33 years old. The song was initially intended for the Asian market but quickly achieved considerable worldwide success.

System engineer Andy Magee (RCF Product Specialist) has followed the tour since the beginning "The tour debuted at the Municipal Theater of Enna in Sicily, with a ground stacked HDL 26-A system. It is the perfect sound system for intimate rooms with a few hundred seats thanks to its reduced visual impact but powerful enough to cover large venues. The subs were installed in the orchestra pit, and NXL 24-A column systems ensured excellent acoustic coverage of the balconies. In subsequent concerts, much larger, the NXL 24-A were used as front-fills and in-fills. At the Catania theater, which is very large and with the HDL 26-A flown, the NXL 24-A were used on stage. Through the Cluster Length Compensation function, the Bass Shaper (both available in RDNet), and of course, also thanks to the fact that the systems are both equipped with 0º phase (FiRPHASE), I found an optimal combination with good coverage of the entire audience."

Magee continues, "The DX1616 processor allows me to have practical routing dividing the system into zones, controlled via XTouch panel from a tablet. RDNet and RDNet Measures are also controlled via the tablet. This allows me to have total freedom of movement in the venue, using a wireless measurement microphone both before and during the concert. The greatest difficulty, if we want to call it like that, was the management of the low register of Mario Biondi's voice, so extensive that I had to optimize the cardioid presets of the TTS 36-AS sub to maximize low-end attenuation in the artist's position.
